Personnel Development

The Arkansas Personnel Development (APD) is a vital component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Arkansas State Plan. It is administered by the Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education Unit. APD is composed of a constituency body and a strategic steering committee representing stakeholders that serve and work with toddlers, children and youth with disabilities. In addressing the needs of toddlers, children and youth, birth to 21 years of age, the following APD subcommittees set annual goals to ensure that all personnel are adequately prepared and trained consistent with consumer needs: Needs Assessment, Certification and Preservice, In-service and Continuing education.
