Part B State Performance Plan


The State of Arkansas is required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 616(b), to have in place a Performance Plan that must be reviewed and approved by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education: The Arkansas State Performance Plan (Updated on 01/23/06) was submitted on December 2, 2005. Alternate Assessment Materials


The alternate portfolio materials for 2006-07 are now available for the 9th grade math, and for the students with significant cognitive disabilities in grades 3-8 and 11. These may be downloaded from this site. This information contains all the necessary forms and administration manual for the portfolios.

Forms, information, manuals, and any other materials from the 2005-06 assessment should be removed. Only forms for 2006-07 may be utilized for this school year. Significant Cognitive Impairment Resource Guides


A new Resource Guide for math grades 3-8, literacy in grades 3-8 and 11, and science for grades 5 and 7 is now available for the teachers of students with significant cognitive disabilities. This Guide was developed by Arkansas teachers of special education and general education and is based on the grade level curriculum standards. It has activities arranged according to complexity and is aligned to the student learning expectations for each of the grades. The PowerPoint Presentation from the September 26, 2006, Video Conference for Students with Disabilities.

This material will be useful for teachers of students with significant disabilities to use in instruction as well as in preparation of materials for the alternate portfolio.
